2nd day (not a full recap)

It’s nice in Hawaii, Oahu, Waikiki. I’m still confused on the logistics of that.

My only spoiled complaint: I don’t have friend here to explore with. It’s still amazing. I enjoy my family, but a part of me wants to stroll downstairs for happy hour and get liquored up on the beaches of Waikiki.

We went to the palace where King Kal-disturbinglylongname used to reside. It came with an audio tour. It was simultaneously hilarious and depressing. The tour ended with a hearty speech about the Hawaiin spirit prevailing over the many injustices and how Hawaii will one day regain its rightful claim of sovereignty. That shit ain’t happening.

Useless observations or learnings of the day:

The population consists of 50% white and 50% japanese.

The palace was opened for tourism in 1978.

Hawaii was overthrown in 1893.

The pool closes at 9p.m. :/
